My name is Steve Young and I am a retired California Highway Patrol Officer. I will also be your instructor in one of the online traffic courses with B Line Traffic Schools. No matter what course you sign up for, my goals are the same: Present you with the information that you need in a way that will not put you to sleep and then get you back to your life.  Throughout some of the courses I have included interesting situations, people and other random things I have come across in my 25+ years with the CHP to break things up a bit. If you asked a person what “traffic school” is most would tell you Driver’s Education. And while that is correct, many people do not know that there are other options as well. There are other classes available that could help a person get a traffic violation removed from their driving record, or help a mature driver keep his or her insurance rates down.

The overall purpose of the courses is to help anyone who takes one to become a better, safer driver. The course descriptions below will help you decide which course is best for you.

  • Driver’s Education – This course completes the written requirement portion of the Driver’s Education requirement for a teenager or new driver. The class will cover: defensive driving, basic road rules and other important tips about driving that are important for every new driver to know.
  • Traffic Violator School – In this course a person who has received a 1-point traffic violation can successfully complete the course to get that point removed. The person cannot have taken a similar course in the last 18 months. Also, the person should be sure the course they are taking is approved in the county that he or she received the citation.
  • Mature Driver Improvement Course – Many times as driver’s get older their insurance rates increase, based solely on their age. By successfully completing this course many insurance companies will maintain their client’s current rate, or in some cases lower their insurance premiums.
  • Driving Test Prep – This class is specifically designed to help the student pass the written portion of the Driver’s Education exam, the first time. There are practice exams the students can take to see what the questions will look like. The questions used come from the most recent exams, so the student is fully prepared.
  • Commercial Driver’s License Test Prep – When preparing for an exam it is always helpful to study the most recent types of questions that will be asked. This class will go not only do that, but it will also explain any questions you get wrong. Understanding why you got a question wrong can be very helpful in preparing properly for the test.

These courses can be taken like many other courses, at a brick and mortar type building, or they can also be taken online. Depending on the type of person you are can help you determine which is best for you.

The courses offered at buildings are great for anyone who really need structure. The person who needs to have a time and a place to go every week. The course taken at a building also has a teacher running it that will help set the pace and requirements of when lessons are due.

The courses offered online offer another set of options. The person who has a super busy schedule can take the courses as they have time. They can work through the lessons at their own pace. The courses are also set up to be more interactive and interesting keeping the student’s interest.
