05 Sep Blog | Comments

Taking a traffic school course is not have to just be about getting your driver’s license. Many people don’t realize traffic school can help in other areas as well. Below is a list of reasons for why it might benefit you to go to traffic school.

  1. Lower points on your driver’s license record – If you have recently received a one-point traffic citation, for example for speeding, you may be able to reduce the points on your driver’s license record. If you have not taken a traffic school course in the last 18 months and need to lower the points on your driver’s license record traffic school might be an option for you. The best way to find out if this is a course you can take is to speak with the court, in the county where you received the citation. They will be able to tell you if you are eligible to take the course and which companies they will accept.
  2. Reduce your car insurance rates – As a person ages and falls into the mature driver category, which usually happens once a person is 55 years old, their insurance rates can increase. The research shows that as people age their reflexes slow down which can make them more susceptible to car accident. Some insurance agencies will allow a person to take a Mature Driver’s Education course to either maintain or lower their car insurance rates.
  3. Prepare for the driver’s education exam – Anyone wishing to obtain their driver’s license may want to prepare by taking practice exams. One traffic school course helps the student prepare by giving them exam questions from previous driver’s education tests. This helps a person feel more prepared and ready to take the actual written exam.
  4. Obtain a driver’s license – Getting your driver’s license requires a person to pass both a written and driving exam. Before a person can take the written exam they must take a traffic school course, which includes both textbook material and on the road construction. Traffic school courses give a person the textbook material instruction necessary to both complete the requirement and help pass the written exam.
  5. Get a CDL – In order to obtain certain positions, for example bus driver, limo driver, taxi driver, etc. a person must have their CDL or Commercial Driver’s License. In order to pass the CDL exam a person is going to need to take a CDL driver’s education course.

Traffic school courses help a wide variety of people with: reducing points on their driving record, passing the driver’s license exam, obtaining a CDL, reducing car insurance rates and in general helping people become better drivers. All traffic school courses are going to educate the students on how to drive defensively and follow the rules of the road. Whether you are new to driving or been driving for 30 years a traffic school course can help a person gain the experience necessary or hone in the experience he or she already has.
